A pairing fit for the ancients
Handmade by a 5th Generation mezcalero in Oaxaca, Mexico

Zaponauta is a handcrafted mezcal-coffee liqueur from Oaxaca, blending Wahaka’s classic smoky, heritage mezcal with rich, sustainably sourced Mexican coffee. Made in small batches by a fifth-generation mezcalero, it brings together fire-roasted agave, slow distillation, and deeply roasted coffee for a spirit that feels both timeless and completely new.

Smooth, gently sweet, and naturally aromatic, Zaponauta offers a tasting experience unlike traditional coffee liqueurs: roasted coffee warmth layered with subtle mezcal smoke, soft cacao notes, and a clean, elegant finish. It’s bold without being heavy, indulgent without excess sweetness, and unmistakably rooted in its Oaxacan terroir.

Sip it neat, over ice, or in elevated cocktails—Zaponauta transforms familiar coffee flavors into something more adventurous, modern, and truly expressive of the craft behind it.

Wahaka is owned and produced by a single indigenous Zapotec family, a lineage that can be traced to beginnings of mezcal itself. Get to know owner Alberto Morales and the generations of his family who craft every bottle from their village in Oaxaca.

Our World Will Always Be Old World

Our ancestors perfected the art of mezcal and our duty is to preserve its heritage. While others industrialize, we defend true, artisanal mezcal. It's why we exist. From plant to bottle, we steward the ancient traditions without compromise.
